As an artist our work expresses our innermost feeling. This piece was done in color pencil and pen and ink. The mid to late 90’s I was dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
The process.
Successfully cancer free since 1997.

One of my favorite stories is that of the simple sandcastle sculpture job in 1992.
A client from Miami just bought the recipe for sand and glue mixture to mass produce sculptures. I created 3. This was the first time I ever sculpted anything. I carved wood, but this was so much easier. 6 months after I was at wick’s and stix candle shop in Tyrone mall St . Pete FL. There I see this and the larger one. I was so excited. Then in 1999 I was living in Massachusetts and my friend traveled to Disney Land. She couldn’t wait to show me what she bought. Yes it was the exact same sandcastle. Disney Land, clear across the country. It made its way to California.
Living in Key West in 2010 I went thrifting at the salvation army store. I couldn’t believe it, there it was again. For $1.50 it made a full circle. Now it sits with my many other sculptures I’ve created since 1992.

Calm is the water, smooth as glass. Waiting for the tide, will it come in fast. Enjoying the surface, the sun has now passed. Weather is coming the clouds have a task. All is as it should be, with this calm should last.

Pencil on paper. This piece and 9 others will be on display at the Eye institute on central downtown St.Pete FL. For the next four months.
The flow of the lines that blend colors, releases the energy to discover…

The beauty of growth extends outward, enjoy.
They are aware, quietly observing, paying attention. For one day they wait to see what is meant to be.

These are part of my discovery of self.
January 10,2026 group art show at The GCAA (Gulf Coast Artists Alliance) in St. Pete, FL. I was awarded first prize. My painting “Resolve to be fluid” was chosen to define the theme of the show.

When we are young and growing up our parents hold us in their hands with care.
Throughout our lives we see so many faces which become memories we hold dear.
When those we love leave this world we hold those memories with others we share.

(Look longer and closer)
The first year without my father was most difficult and painful with spite and anger for the first half. Choosing not to let those thoughts and people take up my time.
I found satisfaction challenging myself through art. This became my way of honoring my father whom I am named after.
Serene mermaids at the Gulf Coast Artists Alliance art gallery in St. Petersburg, FL till January 4th 2026.

I am the mermaid under the full moon which shines above the storm in the distance.

My two mermaids on black canvas. Acrylic on canvas. Both represent awareness of one’s surroundings.
I resolve to be fluid in 2026. To let creativity flow through my fingers while stress will roll off my shoulders like waterfalls. The calm Gulf is how I’ll conduct myself. The wall will protect my heart physically and emotionally. The others in my head will be happily entertained.

Look closely at the clouds to find faces.
In the deep water of the Gulf a beautiful sea creature sits with her treasure chest. She is calm and open. Ready for the treasure chest to be filled with more than her dreams. Her reality is her treasure isn’t seen, it’s felt. Today is the start of a new life, one she creates on her own. For her, wealth of treasure is her family and friends.

$600
She will be in the holiday gallery show at The Beach Art Center on Indian Rocks Beach FL. Till January 2026.
